This October multiple faith communities in Fluvanna County —including our own--will join for the FIFTH year to raise food and money to benefit the Fluvanna Christian Service Society (FCSS) and the Monticello Area Community Action Agency (MACAA), which together manage our local food bank based at the Carysbrook complex.
For those of you not familiar with Feeding Fluvanna, we have gathered food and cash donations each Fall since 2017, growing from $1300 and 2000 lbs. of food in 2017, to 2781 lbs. of food and over $10,000 cash in 2020. Some of you may recall the events held at Grace and Glory Lutheran Church in September 2017 and again in 2018 bringing together vendors, activities like the dunk tank, members of the clergy, and participants from around the community.
We are asking that congregations choose a Sunday / weekend in October to collect food and raise money to help the one in ten households in Virginia that struggle to put food on the table.
Grace & Glory will be collecting food all month long as well as designating all loose cash offerings for Feeding Fluvanna. Grace & Glory will also be accepting special offerings to Feeding Fluvanna throughout the month of October.
Please contact Keith Weimer (keithweimer2@gmail.com) if you have any questions.
Those of us involved in this project would be grateful for the participation and look forward to working with you!
